Staying on top of a child’s home dental care is extremely important, especially given that there is no fluoride in our local drinking water. Parents should brush and floss their children’s teeth twice a day up to the age of five. After that the child should be able to take care of their own teeth. It is also important to avoid giving your child juice or other sugary drinks at night after their teeth have been brushed. Sugary drinks before bedtime allows the sugar to sit on the teeth for the entire night which greatly increases the chance of tooth decay.
